ILENE GREEN
Ilene Blanche Green, a White Salmon resident, died in
Hood River, Ore., on May 17, 2001, at the age of 76.
Mrs. Green was born on Sept. 2, 1924, in Dilley, Ore.,
to Raleigh and Martha (Wolf) Aplin. When she was four, she moved with her
family to White Salmon. She attended schools in White Salmon and after
graduating, she went to work for the local grocery store and as a cook for
the grade school.
On March 26, 1946, she married George H. Green. The couple
had five children, whom they raised in White Salmon. Mrs. Green was a member
of the Husum Church of God and participated in horse clubs with her
husband.
She liked gardening, sewing and making crafts for her
church's annual craft sale. She was a very social person who enjoyed taking
care of everyone, especially friends and family.
Survivors include her husband, George, White Salmon;
daughters Robin Lon and Marlene Osborn, both of Vancouver, and Rita Paris,
Husum; son Terry Greeri, Husum; sisters Mildred Shorter, White Salmon, and
Areta Schock, California; aunts Bing Aplin, White Salmon, and Myrtle Schaad,
La Grande, Ore.; 12 grandchildren and nine great- grandchildren. She was
preceded in death by son Johnny Green, brother Bud Aplin and sister Beth
Morrow.
Funeral services for Mrs. Green were held on Monday,
May 21, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon, with Pastor Tom
Stoltey officiating. Interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
