The Skamania County Pioneer, Stevenson, WA., February 2, 1911, page __

OBITUARY

     Ila May, the infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Brock, was born Jan. 15, 1909, at Cooks, Washington. Her sweet spirit left this earth for a brighter world at 8:45 on the evening of Jan. 23, 1911, after an illness of nine days. Baby Ila was two years and eight days old. This is the first break in the warm circle of this household. Sooner or later this sad experience must come to every home.

"There is no flock, however watched and tended,
But one dead lamb is there;
There is no fireside, howsoe'er defended,
But has one vacant chair.
"

     A B. Cash of Hood River conducted a short service at the home in Little White Salmon Valley, Wednesday forenoon, Jan. 25, after which a number of the friends and relatives of the sorrowing family accompanied them to the cemetery at Underwood where the last sad service was performed.
