JOAN ARLENE ANDREW

     Funeral services were held March 8th at 2 p.m. for Joan Arlene Andrew in the Glenwood church with Elder Thompkins of the 7th Day Adventist Church of White Salmon officiating.
     Interment was in the Mt. Adams Cemetery.
     Joan Arlene Andrew was born on February 4th, 1951 in Hood River, Oregon and passed away Mar. 5th, 1953 at home in Glenwood following three weeks illness.
     She is survived by her parents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy D. Andrew of Glenwood.

GLENWOOD, Mar. 10, Special) -- The community was saddened again last week by the death of the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Andrew. She was laid to rest in the Grange cemetery at Glenwood Sunday. The whole community extends their sympathy to the bereaved family.

GLENWOOD COUPLE LOSES 2ND CHILD FROM LEUKEMIA

     Funeral services for little Joan Arlene Andrew, 2, were held in Glenwood's community church at 2 p.m. on Sunday. Gardner's were in charge of arrangements. Elder M.L. Tompkins of the White Salmon SDA church officiated. Interment was in Mt. Adams cemetery at Glenwood.
     Joan Arlene was born in Hood River hospital output, Feb. 4, 1951. She had been ill for three weeks and died March 5, 1953 at her home in Glenwood. Cause of death was leukemia, a rare and usually fatal disease characterized by a large excess of white blood corpuscles. Joan's affliction was diagnosed as fatal from the first.
     On September 4, 1950, the Andrew's 7-year-old son, Douglas Leon Andrew died of the same disease. Although the best doctors on the Pacific Coast desparied of losing him, his life was prolonged for about a year by interminable blood transfusions.
     The children are survived by their parents, Mr. and Mrs. LeRoy Andrew of Glenwood and a sister, Deanna: and their grandmother, Mrs. John Holmberg of White Salmon.
