FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. F. BAKER ARE HELD SUNDAY
Funeral services were held from the Phillips Funeral
Home in Goldendale Sunday for Mrs. F.B. Baker, well known Goldendale resident,
who passed away Wednesday afternoon, November 11, following an illness of
practically six years. Mrs. Baker was 63 years old.
Coming to Klickitat County in 1902, with her husband
Frank B. Baker, they located at Blockhouse where they operated a store and
a post office for ten years. Blockhouse, at that time was an over-night stop
for cattlemen and Indians on their way to the Mt. Adams area, and the Baker's
enjoyed a thriving business. After disposing of their Blockhouse interests
Mrs. Baker and her husband, who preceded her in death in 1925, moved to their
ranch, which is now operated by her son, Earl in the Spring Creek section.
In 1916 she and her husband moved to Goldendale, where she has since resided.
Mr. and Mrs. Baker established the first Ford Agency
in Goldendale and operated that business for many years.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Baker, all of
whom survive. They are: Earl M., of Goldendale; Ethel M. Moore, of Hood River;
Lee R. and Glenn F., of Portland; Loris H., of North Bend, Wash.; and Doris
M. Bates, of Portland. Six grand-children also survive her.
The remains were laid to rest beside her husband in the
Spring Creek cemetery. Rev. C.J. Hall, of the Goldendale Methodist church,
officiated. An obituary appears elsewhere in this paper.
Pallbearers were A.C. Keefhaver, Fred Smith, Earl Montgomery,
Walter McKenzie, Sherman Duffield and Charles Dudley.
Honorary pallbearers were: Bert Sanders, James Shepard,
Frank Campbell, Ray Schuster, L.E. McKee and E.O. Shipp.

OBITUARY
Mrs. Josie Adelia Baker was born in Lunenburg, Montreal,
Canada, Sept. 14, 1879, and passed away in Goldendale, Nov. 11, 1942, at
the age of 63 years, one month and 28 days.
While living in Montreal she made her home with her
grandfather who was a member of the Parliament in that place.
She was married to Frank B. Baker, at Baker, Minnesota,
in the year 1895. Her husband preceded her in death in the year 1925. She
came to Minnesota when she was eight years old. While here she attended the
Normal school at Morehead, and taught school. Later on she came to the Pacific
Northwest, arriving in Washington from Forest Grove, Oregon in 1902. For
ten years they lived at Blockhouse where they operate the store and post
office. A few years were spent on their ranch before moving to Goldendale
in 1916, where she has lived ever since. Her husband owned by the first Ford
Agency in Goldendale.
Six children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Baker, of all
of whom are living: Earl M., Goldendale, Ethel M. Moore, Hood River, Oregon,
Lee R., and Glenn F. of Portland, Oregon, Loris H., North Bend, Wash., and
Doris M. Bates, Portland. Besides these who mourn her going there are six
grandchildren, as well as a host of neighbors and friends who were greatly
impressed and blessed by her patience and cheerfulness during her six years
as an invalid.
Her early religious training and membership was in of
the Episcopalian Church.
Funeral services were held Sunday Nov. 15, at 2 p.m.
from the Phillips Funeral Home with Rev. C.J. Hall, officiating. Interment
was in the Spring Creek cemetery.
