JULIUS A. MAIER

     Julius A. Maier, Dallesport, died Sunday, Aug. 9, in a local nursing home. He was 89.
     He was born Dec. 20, 1902 at Portland. In 1919, he moved to Appleton, Wash., and had lived in this area for 73 years.
     Mr. Maier worked 36 years for St. Regis Lumber Company at Klickitat, retired in 1968 and moved to Dallesport.
     He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and a Navy veteran of WWII.
     Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Goldie Maier, Dallesport; a stepson, Melvin Wyatt, Tacoma; a stepdaughter, Patricia Ann Robinson, Hermiston; 17 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
     Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 14, at 2 p.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in The Dalles with the Rev. Lawrence Locke officiating. Committal services will follow at the Balch Cemetery in Lyle.
     Visitation will be Thursday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Smith Calloway Chapel.

     He was born December 20, 1902 at Portland. In 1919, he moved to Appleton, Wash., and lived in this area for 73 years.
