"Local Gleanings"

Jess Stump was accidentally shot Monday afternoon this week, and at present lies in a very serious condition. He was out in the mountains with stock, four or five miles from town. Bending over a place in the pipeline to get a drink, his revolver became a dislodged and fell on a rock, discharging the weapon, the bullet entering his abdomen and lodging in his back. He called for help and was brought to his home. Medical aid was summoned immediately and at present his condition is said to be quite uncertain.

The death of Jess Stump is reported as we are closing the forms for press. The shock deranged the mind of his wife and she attempted to commit suicide this morning by shooting herself below the left breast with a 22 caliber rifle. She is at this time very low and recovery is doubtful.
