RITES HELD FOR J. WEINGARTNER ON MONDAY

     John Weingartner passed away last Thursday, February 4th in Hood River at the memorial hospital where he had been for two weeks. Rosary was Sunday afternoon at Gardner Funeral Chapel at three o'clock. Funeral services were held Monday morning at 11 o'clock at the St. Joseph Church here in White Salmon.
     Mr. Weingartner was born in Aurora, Illinois July 4th, 1884.
     He leaves to mourn his passing, a cousin, Mrs. Clara T. Reverman of Portland, and also a number of nieces and nephews.

DEATH SUMMONS JOHN WEINGARTNER, PIONEER RANCHER

     Rosary for John A. Weingartner, 75, was read at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 7 at Gardner's Chapel; and funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Feb. 8 at St. Joseph's Catholic Church.
     The Rev. Father McLaughlin officiated. Burial was in the Trout Lake cemetery beside his wife Mary who died on April 30, 1959.
     Casket bearers were W.L. Talbert, Ellis Claridge, S.H. Maxwell, Wm. Lauterbach, Erwin Sweighowfer and Walter Schmid.
     Mr. Weingartner was born July 4, 1894 at Aurora, Ill. and moved to a homestead between BZ Corners and Trout Lake Valley in 1889.
     On Feb. 11, 1918 he married the daughter of John Meyer, a neighbor, who had homesteaded in Bear Valley in 1897. They had one child, Neta, who died in 1939 at the age of 20.
     The Weingartners farmed their Bear Valley Ranch until they sold to in 1956 to F.D. Wallace when they purchased the Gerry Zwynen residence in White Salmon and moved to town.
     Mr. Weingartner is survived by his half brother, Arnold Anrig of Trout Lake; nephew Herbert Chubb of White Salmon; three nieces, Mrs. Chas. Tetherow, Mrs. Wm. Schatz and Mrs. Frances Howe; and cousin, Mrs. Clara T. Reverman of Portland.
