"Local News"
The death of Joe Ward occurred about noon Tuesday this week. Mr. Ward was brought in from the ranch Sunday evening, and taken to the home of Mrs. Ellen Woods. Dr. Collins found him to have a high fever, developing pneumonia. Mr. Ward had been treating wheat with copper carbonate, and this lodged in his throat and lungs to such an extent that he had a hemorrage. The funeral service was held this morning at 9:00 a.m. from the Holy Trinity Catholic church, with interment taking place in the Catholic cemetery. An obituary will follow.

OBITUARY
Joseph C. Ward, son of Mr. and Mrs. Timothy Ward, was
born at his father's home near Blockhouse, Klickitat County, Washington,
January 22, 1887, where he grew to manhood. He engaged in farming the most
of his life. He was united in marriage to Miss Ellen Woods, Aug. 31, 1928.
After a short illness he passed away in Goldendale, September 30, 1930, at
the age of 43 years, 8 months and 8 days. He leaves to mourn his demise,
a wife, an aged father, Timothy Ward, of Blockhouse; two brothers, W.F. Ward,
of Blockhouse and P.H. Ward, of Wapato, Wash., and a host of other relatives
and friends.
Funeral services were held from the Holy Trinity Catholic
Church in Goldendale on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 9:30 A.M., Rev. Father T.A. Edwards,
officiating. Interment taking place in the Catholic Cemetery near Goldendale.
