HARJU
John E. Harju, 71, of Centerville, died May 3.
He was born October 16, 1916 in Brush Prairie, Wash.
He attended school in Brush Prairie, and in Boardman, Ore.
John and Eleanor Johnson were married September 20, 1941,
in Mass City, Mich. He worked as an auto mechanic in Michigan for many years.
The family moved to Centerville in 1967.
Hobbies included being an avid Ham Radio Operator and
working on cars.
He is survived by his wife Eleanor of Centerville; one
son, Jerry Harju of Spokane; two daughters, Mrs. Linda Randall, Goldendale,
and Susan Doughty of Ontonagon, Mich.; seven grandchildren and one great
granddaughter; brother Bill Harju of Austin, Mich., and sisters Tillie Hedler
and Marie Lyons of Ontonagon, Mich.
Mr. Harju was a member of the Apostolic Lutheran Church
of Centerville.
Funeral services were held on May 7, at the New life
Assembly of God Church in Goldendale with Pastor Gary Geer and Pastor Ray
Hilman of the Centerville Apostolic Lutheran Church and Pastor Dennis Huenefeld
of the New life Assembly of God officiating.
Interment was in the Centerville Cemetery under the direction
of Knosher-Erdman Funeral Home.
Active pallbearers were Richard Randall, Winston Kennedy,
Harlan Hilman, Roger Randall, Ron Olin and Christopher Randall. Honorary
pallbearers were Ted Carratt, Alvin Randall, Tom Carratt and Glenn Smith.
