ELDERLY WIDOW ENDS TROUBLE

     Despondent since the death of her husband and worried by increasing ill health, Mrs. James T. (Jenette Ellen) Hendryx, 78, died at 12:05 Sunday afternoon, July 20 at her Husum home.
     According to the Klickitat County Sheriff's office, death was caused by a self-inflicted 30.30 bullet through the heart.
     The tragedy took place in the elderly woman's bedroom while her granddaughter, Mrs. Mildred Johnson, was resting on a davenport in the next room.
     Also in the house was John Gilmer, Jr., a roomer who was in his room upstairs. (Obituary on church page).

RITES HELD FOR HUSUM PIONEER

     Services for Mrs. Jenette Ellen Hendryx, 78 of Husum, will be held at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, July 24 at Gardner's funeral home. The Rev. Homer Coulson of Husum will officiate. Burial will be in the Odd Fellow Cemetery.
     Pallbearers are: Lawrence Daniels, Russell Hendryx, Willis Gross, Walter Gross, Carl Teel and Guy Jones.
     Mrs. Hendryx was born Feb. 15, 1890, in Kansas and has been a resident of Husum for half a century. Her husband James Taylor Hendryx died April 15, 195. Mrs. Hendryx followed him in death last Sunday, July 20.
     She is survived by three sons: James Jr. and Bethewel of White Salmon and George of Husum; and five grandchildren, Mrs. Mildred Johnson, Mrs. Mike Mansfield, Michael, Douglas and Renae Hendryx.

ELDERLY WOMAN ENDS OWN LIFE WITH RIFLE SHOT

     Death of the Jeanette Ellen Hendryx, 79, has been attributed to suicide by the sheriff's office. She ended her life Sunday at 12:05 p.m. at her home at Husum with a shot in the chest from a 30-30 rifle kept in a closet in her bedroom.
     She was found by a grand-daughter, Mildred Johnson, who lived with her, and by Johnny Gilmer Jr., a border. They summoned her son, Bethual Hendryx, who called Deputy Sheriff John Splawn.
     Dr. K.A. Lundeberg, White Salmon, pronounced her dead on his arrival at the home. Gardner's Funeral Home, White Salmon, has charge of burial arrangements.
     Mrs. Hendryx had been in ill health and despondent since the death of her husband a year ago, family members reported.
