HOCTOR

     John Edward Hoctor was born April 18, 1897 in Goldendale to Michael Martinez and Henrietta Jane Tobin Hoctor. He passed away on June 8, 1983 at the age of 86 years.
     He was married to Ethel Garner Harris January 17, 1921. To this union were born five children. A daughter, Ethel June Harbour, and a son, Edward Carroll Hoctor, and triplet sons who died at birth.
     The Hoctors farmed their entire lifetime in the Centerville and Goldendale area. Ethel preceded John in death on February 8, 1981.
     Hoctor had a great fondness for sports both as a participant and a spectator. He played baseball and basketball and was an ardent follower of Goldendale High School athletic teams for many years.
     He was deeply interested in children and touched the lives of many in his 38 years of driving school bus.
     Hoctor was a 56-year member of the Goldendale Grange and recently received a certificate for 61-years membership in the American Legion. He also was a lifetime member of the Holy Trinity Parish.
     He is survived by his daughters, June Harbour of Pullman, Wash., and his son, Edward Hoctor of Goldendale. He is also survived by ten grandchildren and eight great grandchildren, his sister, Grace Fuchs, and brother, Robert, of Yakima plus many other relatives and friends.
     Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 11, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Father Seamus Kerr as celebrant.
     Pallbearers were Hoctor's six grandsons Charles, John, William and Joseph Harbour and Larry and Gary Hoctor.
     Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery with military honors by Louis Leidl Post No. 116, American Legion.
