PIONEER SUGGRAGIST DIES AT WHITE SALMON

     Funeral services were held at the Jewett farm at White Salmon, Thursday at 2:30 P.M. for Mrs. Jennie Jewett, wife of A.H. Jewett, who died at the family home Tuesday. Rev. W. G. Eliott, pastor of the Church of Our Father (Unitarian) Portland, officiated.
     Mrs. Jewett, 79, and native of Viroqua, Wis., settled at White Salmon in 1874. She was known throughout the Pacific northwest for her interest in the cause of woman suffrage and public affairs. Mr. and Mrs. Jewett on March 13 of this year celebrated their 58th wedding anniversary.
     A daughter, Mrs. James R. Thompson of Portland survives Mrs. Jewett.

     Mrs. A.H. Jewett, 79 year old pioneer of White Salmon, died at that place last week, funeral services being held last Thursday.

MRS. JENNIE JEWETT

     White Salmon was her home, but she was probably as well known here as any pioneer mid-Columbia woman. Mrs. Jewett wielded a great influence for good throughout the communities where she was known. She was ever active in righteous causes. Mrs. Jewett was known for her great charitable heart. She has helped many families in time of illness or need. News of her passing brought real grief to many homes.

PROMINENT PIONEER WOMAN ANSWERS CALL

     Mrs. Jewett is survived by a sister, Mrs. H.L. Sommers, who resides at Parkdale.
