J.E. KORTHASE
James Edward Korthase passed away March 19th at Skyline
Hospital after a brief illness. He was born to Fred and Emily Korthase July
12, 1901 in Michigan.
He was united in marriage to Ruby Faye Mingus in Goldendale,
Washington on February 7, 1920. For the last thirty-eight years he had lived
in Lyle, Washington. He had worked as a carpenter in the area for many years.
Surviving him is his wife: Ruby F. Korthase of Lyle,
Washington and two daughters: Audrey Hylton and Joyce Hutchins, both of Lyle;
and seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Gardner's Funeral Home
on Thursday, March 26th, at 2:00 p.m. Interment will be in the Balch Cemetery
at Lyle, Washington with Rev. Clare Brown of Lyle officiating.

Jim Korthase, long time Lyle resident, died last Friday in Skyline Hospital after having been taken there on March 15. We understand that the funeral will be on Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m. in Gardner's Funeral Chapel in White Salmon. He is survived, in Lyle, by his wife, Ruby, a daughter, Joyce Hutchins, and a granddaughter, Mrs. Rodger Black. The Korthases formerly operated a cafe in Lyle at the east end of the Klickirar bridge in Highway 14, until Jim's health failed and he retired from active work.
