SLAYTON RITES ON FEB. 14TH

     Jess Slayton was born on September 21, 1883 in Dundee, Michigan. For many years he was employed with the Postal department in Seattle before he settled in Lyle in 1942.
     He is survived by a son, Harold Slayton of Bothell, Washington; brother, Fritz Slayton of Toppenish, Washington; four sisters: Mrs. Ada Duke of Toppenish, Mrs. Esther Ogle of Seattle; Mrs. Edith Holtz of Puyallup and Mrs. Edna Baty of Toppenish, one grandchild, Mrs. Harold Kerton and two great grandchildren: Michael and Susan.
     Mr. Slayton passed away at Skyline Hospital, White Salmon on February 9th. Funeral services were on Tuesday morning, Feb. 14th at 10:30 at Gardner's Funeral Chapel with Rev. Besant of Lyle officiating. Interment was in the Balch Cemetery at Lyle.
