JOHN SCAROLA
John Scarola, 83, of Goldendale, died on Saturday, Sept
8 in The Dalles.
He was born on March 9, 1918 in New York city to Luca
and Annunziata (Campanelli) Scarola. He attended St. Monica Catholic School
in Brooklyn and served in the U.S Navy as a CB during WW II.
John and Frances Depke were married on September 21,
1941 at Howard Beach, New York The family lived at Valley Stream, Long Island
and at Rhinebeck, NY.
John was employed for many years as a driver for Railway
Express Agency. After retirement they moved to Goldendale in 1976.
During John's early life he was a member of a professional
roller skating act called The Three Flashes and later performed professionally
with his family "The Flying Scarolas" with both roller skating and
acrobatics.
He loved to entertain, enjoyed singing and photography
but his greatest love was his family.
John was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and
the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Frances; one daughter, Judith
Anne Shatraw; three sons, John, Tim and Ken all of Goldendale; 19 grandchildren,
11 great-grandchildren; and five brothers, Willie, Joe, Pep, Rochy and Frank
all of Long Island. He was preceded in death by three sisters, one brother
and one grandchild.
Mass of Christian Burial was said on Wednesday, Sept
12 at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Catholic Church with Rev. Vincent Sampietro
C.S.P. officiating. Interment was in Holy Trinity Cemetery under the care
of Erdman Funeral Home.
