JOSEPH GROSHONG

     Joseph Groshong was born June 12th, 1879 in the state of Kansas and passed away July 27th, 1951 at the age of 72 years 1 month and 14 days at Hood River Hospital after a short illness.
     The last living child of Peter and Malinda Groshong's family of ten children, who crossed the plains in a covered wagon in 1888. Joe has been a resident of Klickitat County ever since making his home at Trout Lake for 37 years.
     On February 26th, 1907 he was united in marriage to Mary E. Cox of Snowden, Washington and to this union were born six children, five of whom survive him.
     His wife Mary and three sons, Ira and Eugene of White Salmon, Claude of Lebanon, Ore., and two daughters, Mrs. Grace Young of Roseburg, Ore., and Mrs. Hazel Dugger of Estacada, Oregon. Also four grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge of White Salmon.
     Services were held at Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon on July 30 at 1:30 p.m. with Rev. Duffey officiating. Committal service at Trout Lake cemetery followed with Masons in charge.

     The last living of ten children born to Peter and Malinda Groshong crossed the plains in a covered wagon in 1888. The deceased was a resident of this end of Klickitat County ever since. For 37 years he has made his home at Trout Lake.
     On February 26, 1907 Mr. Groshong was married to Miss Mary E. Cox of Snowden, and to this union were born six children, five of whom survive him; his wife Mary and three sons, Ira and Eugene of White Salmon and Claude of Lebanon, Oregon; two daughters, Mrs. Grace Young, Roseburg, and Mrs. Hazel Dugger, Estacada; four grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
     Masonic services were conducted Monday, July 30, at 1:30 p.m. at Gardner's Funeral home with the Reverend Duffy officiating. Committal services were at Trout Lake cemetery.
