JOHN BRUNER

     John Henry Bruner was born to Henry and Mariah Bruner July 10, 1881, in Perry County, Mo. His two brothers and two sisters preceded him in death.
     He was married to Anna Tucker February 12, 1900, in Perryville, Mo. In 1902 they and their infant son, Clyde, sold their possessions and traveled by train to Washington and settled in the Crofton Prairie area. For 40 years they farmed, logged, and worked in construction, which included their working together in a sawmill in White Pines. After living in Yakima a few years, they returned to Goldendale in March of 1942 and have lived at their present home until just a few weeks ago when both John and Anna became ill.
     "Grandpa John," as he was affectionately known to his family, was a custodian at the courthouse and retired from there at the age of 70. Until very recently he was in excellent health. He and his wife maintained their house and yard as well as assisting others with their duties.
     Mr. Bruner passed away in Goldendale January 20, 1972, at the age of 90 years, 6 months and 10 days His wife Anna passed away just 12 days before him. They would have celebrated their 72nd wedding anniversary this February 12.
     He is survived by one grandson, Darwin Bruner of Portland; four great grand-children; Susan Johnston, Bend; Michael Bruner, Portland; Glen Bruner, Goldendale; and Gay Cameron of Gresham; and four great great grandchildren. His children (two infant sons and son ClydeP preceded him in death; as well as one of his two grandchildren, Duane, and one great granddaughter, Jeannie.
     "Grandpa John" and "Grandma John" leave many friends, as well as family, who will mourn their loss and remember both as two of Goldendale's finest citizens.

     To all, of you that have been so kind to our beloved Grandma and Grandpa John we offer our humble thanks. We are so thankful for those deeds and for all the thoughtfulness and kindnesses expressed to us during their illnesses and our losses. We appreciate it more than we can ever tell you.
