We stop our presses to report that Mr. McCoy passed away at 10 a.m. this morning (Wednesday). Funeral services will be held Friday from the Callaway Chapel in The Dalles Friday at 1 p.m. with Rev. George of White Salmon, officiating. Graveside services will be held at the Hartland cemetery at 3 p.m.

     Little hope is held for J. H. "Dick" McCoy, popular Lyle pioneer, who has been confined to The Dalles Hospital since April 19. He is reported to be suffering from cancer.
     Mr. McCoy has been a resident of the Hartland and Lyle area since 1905, having been engaged in farming at Hartland until 1941, when he and Mrs. McCoy moved to Lyle to make their home.
     Mrs. McCoy, daughters, Mrs. Dora Courter, of Roseburg, Mrs. Neoma Charlton, of La Grande, Oregon and a son, Ernest R. McCoy, of Portland, have been staying in The Dalles to be near Mr. McCoy.

JOSEPH H. MCCOY, 77, SUCCUMBS

     Joseph Henson McCoy, 77, a retired rancher who had lived in the Hartland, Wash., area since 1905, died in a local hospital this morning. As a small boy, he had lived in the Boyd and Dufur area, and later became a member of the old Wasco County Pioneer Association.
     He is survived by his wife, Lillian; three sons, Ernest R. McCoy of Portland; Joe McCoy of White Salmon and Willis McCoy of Yakima; two daughters, Mrs. Dora Courter of Roseburg and mrs, Naomi Charlton of La Grande, four grandsons and two great-grand-children.
     Funeral services will be held Friday at 1 pm.m from the C.R. Callaway & Son chapel, with the Rev. George of White Salmon officiating. Committal services will be held at Hartland at 3 p.m. that day.

FUNERAL OF JOSEPH McCOY TO BE HELD TODAY IN THE DALLES

     Joseph H. McCoy of Lyle, passed away at The Dalles hospital Wednesday morning. He was born in Tulare County, California 77 years ago.
     Joseph McCoy, a retired rancher from Lyle, leaves his wife, Lillian, of Lyle, three sons, Ernest A. McCoy, Portland, Oregon, Joe McCoy of White Salmon and Willis McCoy of Yakima. Also two daughters, Mrs. Courter of Roseburg, Oregon, Mrs. Naomi Charlton of LaGrande, Oregon, and four grandsons and two great grandchildren.
     Joseph McCoy came to Dufur, Oregon when 7 years of age, grow up there and in 1905 moved to Hartland, Washington, near Lyle, and has lived there ever since.
     Services will be held at 1 p.m. at the Callaway Chapel in The Dalles with a committal service at the Hartland cemetery at 3:00 p.m. The Reverend George P. George will officiate at the services.
     Joseph McCoy was a member of the Wasco County Pioneer Association.
