Irving Garner, 7, was drowned at Lyle Sunday morning
when the log raft on which he was playing in the overflow waters of the flooded
Columbia river capsized. The child was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jess Garner.

"Lyle"
(By the Lyle Correspondent of the Agri.)
Sunday, May 13th, the town of Lyle was plunged in mourning
by the tragic death of little Irvin Garner. In company with his older brother,
Delbert, and Marvin Dean, he was playing on a small raft on the river, when
he was over balanced and fell in.
Marven tried to rescue him but was in vain. After being
under water about two hours he was found, but is was too late for him to
be saved. The funeral was held on May 15th, at ten o'clock.
Friends of the Garner family tender their sympathy.
