RITES LAST MONDAY FOR JACK DOHERTY
John Joseph Doherty was born June 24th, 1911 at Merrill,
Wisconsin, this son of Theresa and Leonard Doherty. He came to the Trout
Lake valley in 1927 where for years he operated the Trout Lake Cheese Factory.
From 1939 until 1960 he was with the Wyers Trading Company in White Salmon.
During the past four years he resided in Portland.
He passed away at the Veterans Hospital in Portland on
April 3rd. Surviving are two daughters: Maureen and Linda Doherty of White
Salmon. An infant daughter passed away in 1941. Four sisters: Mrs. Florence
Sullivan and Mrs. Vincent Chiotti of Portland, Mrs. Francis Barr of Medford,
Oregon, and Mrs. Kathleen Hall of Eatonville, Washington. There are three
brothers: Robert of Trumansburg, New York; Pat of Olympia, Washington; and
Richard Doherty of Portland.
Jack entered Officer's Candidate School at Fort Knox,
Kentucky in June of 1942. He was honorably discharged from military service
November of 1942.
Funeral services were held Monday, April 6th, 2 p.m.
at the Gardner's Funeral Chapel in White Salmon, Washington with Rev. Mr.
Rodger Clevenger officiating. Interment was in the Goodwill Cemetery at White
Salmon, Washington.
