TRIBUTE TO A FRIEND

On December 31, 1933, with the passing of the old year there was taken from our midst a life-torn soldier, an honored friend and a beloved neighbor, Jack Paul Lasky, exemplifying the true ambitious nature, left his home across the seas to better himself in the United States of America. He became a citizen, a student, and a progressive thinker in our American life -- an achievement that many would be proud of.
After leaving Wisconsin, Mr. Lasky made the Western states his home, where the coal mining industry attracted him.He spent most of his time in the state of Washington and worked in many of the best mining towns on the coast.
In 1910, "Jack", as his many close friends knew him, moved to Glenwood. He shall always be admired for his rugged constitution, his great stamina, and his honest and ambitious character. He sets a lasting example of what one can do under bitterly adverse conditions, a lesson which should leave its indelible imprint on many lives. In passing, Mr. lasky was mourned not only as a true friend, but a deeply as one's own kin. At his burial he was paid the most fitting and highest tribute in a few words, "He was loved by all."
