JANET BARNES
Janet Lou Barnes, a former White Salmon resident, died
Jan. 11, 1999, at Columbia Basin Nursing Home in The Dalles, Ore., at the
age of 58.
Miss Barnes was born May 7, 1940, in Jacksonville, Texas,
to Albert H. and Thelma A (Waller) Barnes. After several moves she settled
with her family in Home Valley, graduating from Stevenson High School in
1959. She lived in White Salmon for a while, then in Tucson, Ariz., for several
years, before moving to The Dalles about seven years ago to be nearer family.
She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in The
Dalles and was on the Liturgy Committee. She was a former member of St. Joseph's
Catholic Church in White Salmon. She taught Sunday School for years.
Miss Barnes is survived by brothers Gerald A. Barnes,
Home Valley, and Philip H. Barnes, Tucson, Ariz.; sister Gloria Stephenson,
Carson; three nieces, one nephew and three grand nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Miss Barnes was celebrated
at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hood River, Ore., on Jan.15 at 11 a.m.,
with Father Ron Maag officiating. Interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
Arrangements were handled by Gardner Funeral Home of
White Salmon.

at a local care center on Jan. 11, 1999.

Survivors include two brothers Gerald A., Home Valley,

three nieces, a nephew and three grand nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St.

arrangements.
