LES DICKERSON DIES FROM CAR CRASH INJURIES

     Lester Dickerson, well-known Bingen resident, died at Vancouver Memorial Hospital Monday, February 13 at 10:30 a.m. following a three car accident on Interstate Highway No. 5 ten miles north of Vancouver at the intersection with County road 18.  Also killed in the accident was Cora Minnie Myers, 62, of Battle Ground.  Two other passengers in the car, Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Thompson of Seattle, were injured.
     The State Patrol reports that Dickerson had pulled onto the freeway and was struck by a southbound car driven by Thursa C. Slater, 22, Vancouver, who was hospitalized in good condition along with her passenger, Margaret Seippel, 22, Battle Ground.  No one in the third car, driven by Tony F. Hegel, 41, of Milwaukee, Ore., was hurt.
     The accident occurred Saturday, February 12 at about 7:15 p.m..
     John Lester Dickerson was born July 18, 1896 in Georgia.  He was a veteran of World War I and had been for many years connected with the lumber industry of the area before his retirement.
     He was an ardent fisherman and had just recently made some new acquisitions in the way of equipment for the coming season.
     Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 16, at 2 p.m. at the Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon with interment to be in the White Salmon Cemetery.  The Rev. Roger L. Clevenger will officiate.  Bearers will be Clyde Willy, Phillip Brumbaugh, Joe Courtney Sr., Ray Hess, Claude Locke and Arthur Moore.
     Surviving him are two daughters, Vivian (Mrs. Ray Cochran) of White Salmon, and Ella (Mrs. Frank Lester) of Bingen; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one brother, W. M. Dickerson of Bend, Ore.
     His wife, Myrtle, preceded him in death, Feb. 2, 1962.

     John Lester Dickerson, a resident of Bingen since 1940, died Feb. 13, 1967 at pital(sic).  He was born July 18, 1896 in Georgia.
     He is survived by two daughters; Vivian (Mrs. Ray) Cochran of White Salmon, and Ella Lester of Bingen, Wash.; four grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and one brother, W. M. Dickerson of Bend, Ore.  His wife, Myrtle, died on Feb. 2, 1962.
     Funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon, Feb. 16 at Gardner’s Funeral Home at 2 o'clock.  Rev. Roger Clevenger will officiate and interment will be at the White Salmon Cemetery.
     Pallbearers will be Clyde Willey, Phillip Brumbaugh, Joe Courtney, Sr., Ray Hess, Claud Locke, and Arthur Moore.
