JOSEPHINE MONTGOMERY

     Funeral services for Josephine Marie Montgomery will be on Friday, Aug. 9, 2002, at 1 p.m. at Gardner Chapel in White Salmon. A visitation will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gardner Funeral Home.
     Mrs. Montgomery died in Glenwood on Sunday, Aug. 4, 2002, at the age of 76.
     She was born to Clyde and Laura Myrtle (Blevins) McDowell on March 26, 1926, in Missouri, where she spent her younger years. At the age of 16, she moved with her family to the Yakima Valley and she graduated from Moses Lake High School in 1944. After school, she moved to Prosser and worked at the Prosser Cafe where she met Marvin Montgomery. The two were married on Aug. 14, 1944, in Yakima. In 1957, they moved to Glenwood. The family moved to Prosser for a while and also spent some time in Connell, where both Mr. and Mrs. Montgomery worked for the school district. In 1987, the couple moved back to Glenwood, where they lived the rest of their lives among family and friends.
     Mrs. Montgomery loved fishing more than anything. She also enjoyed crocheting, embroidering and word search puzzles.
     She shared most of her hus-band's interests and was his constant companion. He died on April 25, 2001. Also preceding her in death are brothers Mac McDowell, Leland McDowell and William McDowell, and two grandsons Jason and Anthony.
     Surviving Mrs. Montgomery are her sons Duane, Glenwood, and Jim, Royal City; daughters Anita Wellenbrock, Marvina Randle and Jensi Smith, all of Glenwood; sisters Marguerite Farley, Selah, and Kathryn Cox, Naches; brother Sam McDowell, Anchorage, Alaska; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
     Vault interment will take place at Mt. Adams Cemetery in Glenwood.

     Her husband Marvin, preceded her in death in 2001. Also preceding her were brothers Mac McDowell, Leland McDowell and William McDowell, and two grandsons, Jason and Anthony.
     Survivors include two sons, Duane, of Glenwood and Jim of Royal City three daughters, Anita Wellenbrock, Marvina Randle, and Jensi Smith, all of Glenwood; two sisters, Marguerite Farley, of Selah and Kathryn Cox, of Naches; one brother, Sam McDowell, of Anchorage, Alaska; 10 grand-children and five great-grand-children.
     Vault interment will be at Mt. Adams Cemetery, in Glenwood. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Ronald McDonald House in care of Gardner Funeral Home, P.O. Box 390, White Salmon, WA 98672.
