     A graveside memorial services for 71-year-old Joseph Pinell will be held on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Lyle Balch Cemetery in Lyle.

JOSEPH PINELL

     Joseph Marshall Pinell died at his home in Dallesport on Sunday, August 1, 2004. He was 71 years old. He was born on July 30, 1933, in The Dalles, Ore., the son of Alice Myrtle (Gill) and Joseph Allen Pinell.
     Mr. Pinell attended school in Dallesport and Lyle and stayed in the area before joining the Coast Guard. On April 6, 1956, he married Peggy Spencer in Lyle. She died on Nov. 12, 2002.
     Mr. Pinell worked for the Klickitat county road department as a foreman, and also for Gibbins & Reed Construction.
     He liked to go RV camping with the Good Sam's Club, of which he was a member. He also enjoyed playing cards, but his main hobby and great love was fishing. Joe liked to fish for all kinds but mainly for salmon and steelhead. Out on the river, Mr. Pinell was known as "Old Joe." He loved teaching his grandkids to fish, collecting lures and writing fishing journals. He had many fun days on the river with his wife.
     Survivors include daughters Kathleen Scholes, Clackamas, Ore., and Debora Dooley, Kennewick; sister Eileen Brashers, Lyle; brother Mike Pinell, Sparks, Nev.; mother and stepfather Alice and Ariel Morgan, Dallesport; 10 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five nephews and nieces. Preceding Mr. Pinell in death were his wife, Peggy, and son Joe, who died on Jan. 26, 2003.
     A graveside memorial service for Mr. Pinell was held on Saturday, Aug. 7, 2004, at 1 p.m. at the Lyle Balch Cemetery in Lyle.
