JOHN NELSON SHULL
John Nelson Shull was born in a Strang, Nb. March 25,
1896 and passed away January 25, 1973 at the Klickitat Valley Hospital after
a long illness.
John spent his boyhood around Riley, Ks. He was married
to Eula E. Draper in Riley on January 23, 1918 and they operated a rancher
there. In 1922 they moved to Denver, Col. where John was employed by the
city for five years. They farmed at Castle Rock, Col. in 1929.
John later established the Cand Sand Shull Truck Lines
in 1934. They moved to Vancouver, Wa. in 1938. In 1948 the family moved to
Goldendale and operated a dairy and later purchased the John Deere Implement
Co. which he operated for several years.
John also operated ranches in the Spring Creek, Centerville
and Goldendale areas. He retired in 1964. John and Eula moved to Centerville
where they lived for five years. They moved to Goldendale in 1970 because
of John's failing health.
Survivors include his widow; daughter Althia Watts of
Palm Springs, Cal.; sons Darold of Spokane, Ray of Goldendale, and John Jr.
of Hermiston, Or.; sister May Windsor of Denver, Col.; and 19 grandchildren
and 7 great-grandchildren.
One daughter, Shirley Schessler, preceded him in death
in 1969.
Services were conducted by Knosher Funeral Home January
27 with Minister Harry F. Carter of the Centerville of Church of Christ
officiating. Interment was at Centerville Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Orville Trumbo, Charles Hoctor, Elmer
Reed, Gus Trumbo, Luke Enyeart and Joe Hassing.
