JOSEPH ANDERSON SUCCUMBS TUESDAY AT CENTERVILLE

     Joseph Anderson, age 87, passed away at his home in Centerville Tuesday following an illness. Final rites for Mr. Anderson, who was a native of Finland, will be held at the Apostal Lutheran church in Centerville Friday afternoon at 2 o'clock, with Wilhelm Basi conducting. Interment will be in the Centerville cemetery.
     Mr. Anderson was born in Kuusomo, Finland, November 29, 1859. He leaves five children, 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and a host of more distant relatives and friends.
     The children are Charles, of Quincy, Oregon; Peter, of Centerville; Olga Makela, of Astoria, Oregon; Ina Timoren, of Quincy, and Oscar of Forest Grove, Oregon.

     Joseph Anderson was born in Kuusano, Finland November 29, 1859 and passed away at his home in Centerville September 9, 1947 being 87 years, 9 months, and 10 days of age.
     He was married in Finland to Anna Liia Lehto and came to America September 29, 1892 and made his home on his farm near Centerville. His wife died May 27, 1905 leaving six children.
     On April 1, 1907 he married Susanna Leinonen and she passed away April 6, 1936 at their home in Centerville.
     He leaves to mourn his passing three sons, Charles, of Quincy, Oregon, Peter, of Centerville, and Oscar, of Forest Grove. Oregon and two daughters, Olga Makela, of Astoria, Oregon, and Ina Timonen, of Quincy, Oregon. One daughter, Sophia Olson, preceded him in death March 23, 1921. He also leaves 16 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. One brother John Manneko, of Mass City, Michigan and one sister Hilda Karasti, of Clatskanie, Oregon.
     Funeral services were held Sept. 12, 1947, at the Apostolic Lutheran church in Centerville of which he had been an active member all his life. The Reverends Basi and C. Saccrison officiated. Interment was in the Centerville Grange cemetery.
