J.A. DESY LAID TO REST IN CATHOLIC CEMETERY MONDAY
Mass was held from the Holy Trinity Catholic church at
10:30 a.m. Monday for Joseph A. Desy, 57, who passed away in the Veteran's
Hospital in Portland, Oregon, January 5, where he had been confined for the
past six weeks. Services were in charge of Father Hartnett and interment
was made in the Catholic cemetery.
Mr. Desy was born in Littleton, New Hampshire in 1897
and came to Goldendale with his family three and a half years ago. He had
been employed as a firemen at the Klickitat Klickitat Pine Box Co. sawmill.
He was a veteran of World War I and a member of Louis Leidl Post No. 116,
American Legion.
He was married to Alexina Gagne at Central Falls, Rhode
Island, in 1918. Survivors include his wife, son, Staff Sgt. Edgar Desy,
who is serving with the armed forces in the Aleutian Islands; two daughters,
Dorice 20, and Pearl 16, all of Goldendale. Mr. Desy had not seen his son
since he entered the service two and a half years ago. Other survivors include
five sisters, Mrs. Florida Coutu, Mrs. Bonvellier, Mrs. Crositier, Mrs. Langvine,
all of Quebec, Canada and Mrs. J.D.O. Cayer, of Saskatchewan, Canada.
