JOHN SCHMID

     John Schmid, who lived his entire life in Trout Lake, died April 4 at Mountain Park Convalescent Center in Lake Oswego, Ore. He was 84.
     Funeral was April 8 at Trout Lake Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. James McGugin officiating. Interment was in Trout Lake.
     Mr. Schmid was born October 24, 1893 to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmid and was the grandson of Joseph Aerni, one of the original settlers in the valley. He married Alice King in September, 1912. He was a retired farmer and Past Grand Master of the Trout Lake Grange and a member of the Masonic Lodge.
     He is survived by his children, Kenneth Schmid and Leon Schmid, both of Trout Lake, Loren Schmid of White Salmon, Helen Dolezal of Hillsboro, Ore., Forrest Schmid of Renton, Dorothy Potter of Canon City, Colo., Vesta Libby of Portland and Stanley Schmid of Seattle; a brother, Walter Schmid of Trout Lake; three sisters, Bertha Keizer and Elizabeth Keizer, both of North Bend, Ore., and Esther Jennings of Portland; 19 grandchildren and six great grandchildren.

     John Schmid, a retired Trout Lake farmer, died Apr. 4 at a convalescent center in Lake Oswego, Ore. He was 84.            He was born Oct. 24, 1893 in Trout Lake to Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schmid and lived in the valley all of his life. He was a Mason and a member of the Trout Lake Grange.
     He was a past Master of the Grange and a past member of the Trout Lake School Board. His grandfather was one of the first settlers in the Trout Lake Valley.
     He married Alice Kind in September 1912 in Trout Lake.
     Survivors include sons, Kenneth, Trout Lake, Loren, White Salmon, Forest, Renton, Leon, Trout Lake, Stanley, Seattle; daughters Helen Dolezal of Hillsboro, Ore., Dorothy Potter, Canon City, Colo., Vesta Libby, Portland; brother, Walter, Trout Lake; sisters Bertha Kaiser, North Bend, Ore., Esther Jennings, Portland, Elizabeth Kaiser, North Bend, Ore., 19 grandchildren including Keith Silen, Goldendale and six great grandchildren.
     Services were held Apr. 8 at Trout Lake Presbyterian Church with the Rev. James McGugin officiating. Interment was in Trout Lake Cemetery.
