JOHN P. COTTER
Lyle resident John P. Cotter died Monday, Dec. 7, at
The Dalles, Ore., after a long illness. He was 64.
He was born Nov. 26, 1923 to John E. and Ruby Allen Carter
in Omak, Wash. On Jan. 12, 1968, he married Patricia A. Lehman. Mr. Cotter
came to the Mid-Columbia area in 1964. He worked for Broughton Lumber Company
and St. Regis Corp. in Klickitat before retiring on 1981 for health reasons.
He belonged to the Bingen Eagles Lodge, Veterans of Foreign War, and the
Brotherhood and Paternal Order of the Elks. He was a World War II veteran.
Mr. Cotter loved to fish and hunt, and collected cups as a hobby.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia of Lyle; mother
Ruby Wells of Hood River; daughter Gloria Lamb of White Salmon; sons, John
P. Jr. of Spokane and Mickey of Seaford, Va.; sisters, Mary Lou Lester of
hood River, Dorothy Simpson of Boise, Idaho, and Margaret Brown of Riddle,
Ore.; and four grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Cotter were held Friday, Dec.
11, at Balch Cemetery, Lyle. The Rev. Les Haarstad officiated. Interment
followed under the direction of Gardner Funeral Home.
