DEATH SUMMONS "JAKE" PIERCE

     Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 22, at the Pioneer Memorial Community Church, Glenwood, for Jacob Lemuel Pierce, 62, Laurel rancher.
     Gardner's Funeral Service of White Salmon was in charge of arrangements. The Rev. Roger L. Clevenger officiated. Burial was in Mt. Adams Cemetery.
     Bearers were: (active) Paul Ladiges, Russell Kreps, Roy Feller, LeRoy Andrews, Albert Booher, O.P. Kreps; (honorary) Robert Wellenbrock, Max Ladiges, Sr., Charles Holly, Frank Lyle, Herman Kuhnhausen and Osmar Ladiges.        "Jake" Pierce was born Sept. 7, 1901 at Hay Springs, Nebraska and has lived at Laurel since 1936. He was a 4-H leader, a 25-year member of the Glenwood Grange and belonged to the Camas Prairie Pioneer Assn.
     Mr. Pierce died early Wednesday morning, June 17, at West Klickitat Valley Hospital, Goldendale, several hours after he had been admitted. Cause of death was a coronary obstruction.
     He is survived by his widow, Wallie, and three children: Glenn and Lila Lee, both at home,and Mrs. John (Bonnie) Whitmire, Glenwood; a brother, Gerald Pierce of Portland; and stepmother, Mrs. Laura Pierce, also Portland.

ATTACK TAKES JAKE PIERCE

     Jacob Pierce, 62, a long-time Glenwood resident died June 17th at the Klickitat Valley Hospital in Goldendale following a heart attack.
     Mr. Pierce was born Sept. 7, 1901 at Hay Springs, Neb. Mr. Pierce had been transported to Goldendale about 3 a.m. following an attack.
     He is survived by his wife Wallie, of Glenwood; 2 daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Whitmire of Glenwood and Miss Lila Lee Pierce, Glenwood; 1 son, Glenn LeRoy Pierce, Glenwood; 1 brother, Gerald of Portland and his step-mother, Mrs. Laura Pierce and numerous other relatives.
     Services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at the Glenwood Community Church and interment will be at Glenwood.
     Rev. Roger Clevenger will officiate and the Glenwood Grange will have charge of the service.
