Joseph Linden, who on Nov. 15, 1908, departed this life for the great beyond, was born of German parents in Buffalo, New York, Oct. 8, 1848. He died at the age of 60 years, one month and 7 days. In his early youth he crossed the states to California, and there remained several years. On May 15, 1879, he was married to Miss Louise M. Hellen, one of California's native daughters. In the fall of 1881 he came to Klickitat settling on the home place, near the city. Besides his wife he leaves five daughters, Mrs. Joseph Woods of Bowman Creek; Mrs. Caroline Madden of Portland, Oregon; Mrs. Anna Bates of Clay Center, Neb.; and Katherine and Jennie Linden of Goldendale; also two sons, Joe and Frank Linden, of Goldendale; also two grandchildren, Clinton Woods and Edna Bates. He also leaves one aged sister, Mrs. Kate Toller of Sioux City, Iowa. He has been a sufferer for some three years past of organic heart trouble. On Saturday, Nov. 14, Mr. Linden was in Goldendale enjoying himself among the old friends. He took sick at 9 o'clock Saturday night and died on Sunday night at 9 o'clock; this funeral was held from the Catholic church in Goldendale, of which he was a devout member. He was buried in the Catholic cemetery on his place, which he gave to the dead of his faith. The title of the text used at the funeral was "Nothing remaineth for me but the grave," The Rev. Father Roman of Hood River, Oregon, officiated.
