JAMES R. JAEKEL
James R. Jaekel was born Dec. 19, 1884 to Christina and
John Jaekel. He died Nov. 8, 1974 in the Klickitat of Valley Hospital,
Goldendale.
He was born and raised on the homestead of his parents
south of Centerville. His entire life was spent in Klickitat Valley where
he met and married Esther Ritzschke in 1909. Due to poor health he retired
from the farm and moved to Goldendale.
He was a member of the Masonic Order, the Centerville
Grange and the Neighbors of Woodcraft for many years.
James was preceded in death by his parents, daughter
Evelyn, infant son, three sisters and four brothers.
Mr. Jaekel is survived by his wife Esther; his two daughters,
Edna L. Tobin of Centerville and Lois I. Hase of Portland; his son Quentin
of Centerville; and his brother Albert O. of Goldendale. He is also survived
by nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at the Knosher Funeral Home
Nov. 12. The Rev. Eldon Wiidanen officiated. Interment was in the Centerville
Cemetery.
Pallbearers were four grand sons: Walter Crow of Seattle,
Larry Tobin of Centerville, Dennis Jaekel of Tacoma and Steven Hase of Portland.
Also Michael Beebe of Salem, Ore. and Bruce Cameron of Centerville.
