AHOLA
Josephine Selina (Lena) Ahola, former Centerville and
Goldendale resident, died June 8, in Seattle, at the age of 92.
She was born at Astoria, Ore., June 29, 1896 to Pastor
and Mrs. Gustof Simi. She moved with her parents as a young girl, to Centerville
where her father was pastor of the Apostolic Lutheran Church for several
years. Ahola was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Church. She had four
sisters; Mary Ringham and Fannie Daniels of Portland, Ore., Hilja Crandall,
Astoria, Ore., Mariam Olson of Centerville, and one brother Charles Simi
of Centerville.
Lena was united in marriage to Walter Ahola in 1912,
at Goldendale. They had three sons: Herbert Arnold, Werner Matt Gustof, and
Walder Arthur Owen. Walter and Lena and their family lived and farmed in
the Centerville area for many years.
Lena was preceded in death by her husband, parents, sisters,
brother, her three sons, and daughter-in-law. She is survived by her
grandchildren; Gail Donnelly of Seattle, Jeannie Westergreen of Sumas, Wash.,
Janice Ho of Pullman, and Jim Ahola of Carpinteria, Calif., also six great-grand
children, nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
A graveside memorial service was held at the Centerville
Cemetery on June 19, with Pastor Ray Hilman officiating.
