KATHRENA METILDA DUNN
Kathrena Metilda Dunn, daughter of John and Sarah Crocker
was born in Finland, August 3, 1863. At the age of 11 years she came with
her parents to Calumet, Mich., where she grew to womanhood. In 1877, she
moved to Centerville, arriving July of that year, where most of her life
was spent.
In 1889 and she was united in marriage to William Dunn
at Centerville. To this union two children were born, the youngest passing
to the other world when quite young.
Mrs. Dunn was a christian woman, believing that the Saviour
would fulfill every promise. She was a woman of prayer, sincere and ernest,
and ever active in her church life. Perhaps none in the community ever had
the sorrows that was hers, yet never a word of complaint bearing her sorrows
as a christian.
She was also a dress maker and a wonderful cook. Many
of the homes look back in the years that have gone by and remember the wedding
dresses that she made for the brides and wedding dinners that were prepared
by her. Many instances can be recalled where ever young woman in the family
had her wedding dress made by her.
She has passed on to the brighter and better world, for
her the tasks and toils of life are over, sorrows and disappointment shall
be no more. She is at rest from her labors.
She passed away at Medical Lake, Washington, March 10,
1935 at the age of 71 years, 7 months and seven days, leaving to mourn her
demise, a son, George William, one brother, Matthew Crocker, of Centerville,
and three nephews and a host of friends.
The funeral was held from the Church of Christ where
she was a member for many years Wednesday afternoon, Elder S.C. Eshelman,
officiating, interment following in the Grange cemetery, under the direction
of Merle W. Chapman, funeral director.
