and was married to the late Simpson Hart Thomas on Nov. 18, 1897 in Newton,

Lady of the Road
They moved from Kansas to Dennison, Texas and in 1916
to White Salmon. While their several children were growing up, Mr. and Mrs.
Thomas divided their time between their White Salmon home and Trout Lake
ranch.
As Mrs. Thomas commuted by a car between home and ranch
at a time when travel was mostly by horse and wagon, she became known as
"The Lady of the Road."
Although she had a large family, she gave freely of her
time and effort to the Bethel Congregational Guild, White Salmon Woman's
Club, Mt. View Grange, West Klickitat Pomona, Red Cross and 4-H Club.
She was endowed with tireless energy, read widely and
her strong leadership was often called upon by organizations to which she
belonged.
Her husband and three of her seven children preceded
her in death.
Survivors include two sons, Joseph Lee Thomas, Portland,
and Robert B. Thomas, of Trout Lake; daughters Florence Evelyn Thomas, White
Salmon and Marie Lucelia Thomas, Seattle; three grandchildren and one great
grand child.
