LOLA M. CARYL
Lola M. Caryl, a longtime Trout Lake resident, died July
2, 1986 at her home in Trout Lake at the age of 70.
Mrs. Caryl was born Nov. 11, 1915, in Portland, to Edward
B. and Cecile M. Sweet. She grew up in Washougal and graduated from high
school there. She married Paul E. Caryl in Washougal Nov. 11, 1934, and moved
to Trout Lake where she remained the rest of her life.
She worked for the Trout Lake Schools for many years
and served on the school board. She was active in Friends of the White Salmon,
was a former member of Skyline Hospital Guild and was instrumental in starting
the hospital. She loved to garden and raise herbs and loved to knit for her
grandchildren.
Mrs. Caryl is survived by her husband, Paul, Trout Lake;
children, Edward Caryl, Trout Lake, Ann Irvings, Freeland, Wash.; Lee Caryl,
Hood River, and Jon Caryl, White Salmon; sisters, Harriet Oltmans, Goldendale,
and Beth Story, Theodore, Ala.; and five grandchildren and step grandchildren.
Graveside services were held July 5, 1986, at 1 p.m.
at the Trout Lake Cemetery, with Pastor Jim McGugin officiating. Contributions
may be given to the Skyline Foundation in care of Skyline Hospital.
