LEON BENNETT
Funeral services for Leon Charles Bennett, 85, Dallesport,
will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 29, at Faith Lutheran Church with the Rev.
Lawrence Locke officiating.
He was born in Kauga, N.D., Nov. 29, 1906, to Earl and
Minnie Miller Bennett. He died at home Sept. 24 after a long illness.
He and his wife, Esther L., were married in 1937 and
they farmed in Iowa for 20 years. They moved to Mill City in 1957, then lived
in Eugene and Hood River, The Dalles and Dallesport area for 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, two sons; Warren Bennett,
Regina, Saskatchewan; Larry, Goldendale; a daughter, Edith Penhollow, Owlwein,
Iowa; 16 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, a brother, Lloyd in Arkansas;
a sister, Gladys Peeper, Owlein, a half-sister, Phyllis Lambert, Waterloo,
Iowa.
Interment was private in the Balch Cemetery in Lyle.
Pallbearers were Richard Fadness, Russell, Trueax, Elmer Isaak and Dennis
Denton.
