LOUIS BENSON
Louis C. Benson, a longtime White Salmon resident, died
Monday at Skyline Hospital in the White Salmon, at the age of 72.
Mr. Benson was born June 6, 1912, in Lebanon, Ore., to
Mr. and Mrs. James Benson. He was raised in The Dalles and graduated from
high school there. He came to White Salmon in 1936 and it worked on the dam.
He was manager of the White Salmon PUD branch office from 1940 to 1979, when
he retired. He was also a Skyline Hospital commissioner, former cemetery
board member and Bingen City councilman. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge,
the former Bingen Lions Club, the Order of Eastern Star, the Sundowner Good
Salmon Club, the American Association of Retired Persons and the Methodist
Church.
Mr. Benson is survived by his wife, Lila, White Salmon,
his children, Lance Benson, Vancouver, Gail Stencil, Estacada, Ore., and
Mary Eaton, White Salmon; eight grandchildren; one great-grand child; and
several nieces and nephews.
Services for Mr. Benson will be held today (Thursday)
at 10 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Jean Marie
Wood officiating. Interment will be in the White Salmon cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Skyline Ambulance Fund.
