LESTER KNOWLTON
Lester S. Knowlton, a White Salmon resident since 1945,
died Aug. 1 at the Bess Kaiser Hospital in Portland, at the age of 72.
Mr. Knowlton was born March 7, 1913 in Kirkland, to Mr.
and Mrs. George G. Knowlton. He grew up in the Yakima area and moved to White
Salmon in 1945. He worked for the Fisheries Department and the State of
Washington Department of Natural Resources most of his life. He was a member
of the Evergreen Grange and the National Rifleman's Association.
Mr. Knowlton is survived by his wife, Arlie, now living
with son Larry in Ridgefield; sons, William E. Kelley, Milton, Fla., and
Larry Knowlton, Ridgefield; sisters, Yvonne Williams, Portland, Berdie Cooke,
White Salmon, and Halsey Hace, White Swan; four grand-children and five
great-grandchildren.
Graveside services for Mr. Knowlton were held Saturday
at the White Salmon Cemetery, with Rev. Judith Ann Richards officiating.
Gardner Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
