DOUBLE FUNERAL FRIDAY 10:30 FOR FATHER AND SON
Double funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday,
June 3 at Gardner's Chapel, White Salmon, for Lonnie Solomon, 50, Bingen
and his son Lurman, 27, White Salmon who were drowned when their fishing
boat capsized on Sunday, May 29 at Rowland Lake, several miles east of
Bingen.
The Rev. Homer Coulson of Husum officiated and burial
was at Goodwill Cemetery, White Salmon.
Casket bearers for the younger Solomon were Don Deckard,
Jim Turner, Bud Palmer, Joe Cherry, Carl I. Teel and Harvey Mitchell; and
for his father, Willard Turner, Lester Sturgeon, Neal Scribner, Norman Jenkins,
Jack Prine and Carl Teel.
Lonnie Solomon was born March 11, 1916 at Ava, Mo. where
Lurman was also born on Jan. 8, 1939.
Lonnie, a logger for his son-in-law John Scribner, is
survived by his widow Mildred of Bingen; sons Lyman and Ivan E. both of Bingen;
daughter, Mrs. John (Iva Sue) Scribner of White Salmon; and four living sisters,
Mrs. Maynard (Georgia) Mitchell of Bingen; Mrs. Fern Friday of Yakima, Mrs.
Ira Day and Mrs. Lester Duckworth, both of Ava, Mo.
A brother, John Solomon and his mother, Mrs. Viola Pratt
also live at Ava, Mo.
Lurman was married to Madonna Lee Lansidel at Selah on
July 28, 1956. She survives him; also his mother, two brothers and sister
mentioned above. He was employed as a timber faller by SDS Lumber Co. of
Bingen.
