LOUIS G. BOXDORFER
Graveside services for Louis G. Boxdorfer, who passed
away Aug.17, were held Aug. 20 at Spring Creek Cemetery outside Goldendale.
Louis G. Boxdorfer was born April 9, 1879 to George and
Theresa Boxdorfer, in Perryville, Missouri. He was the oldest child in a
family of 10 brothers and sisters. He passed away in the Cascade Villa Nursing
Center at the age of 97 years, four months and eight days.
He spent his early years, for the most part, in his home
state doing farm work. On Sept.12, 1904, he was married to Clara A. Tucker.
In September of 1908, the couple moved west to Washington and joined members
of her family who had previously journeyed westward.
In various areas of Washington, Louie worked in and around
sawmills and other phases of the lumber and logging industries. On occasion,
he engaged in farm work. At one time, he was employed by Klickitat County
as a truck driver. Some years later, Louis Boxdorfer moved back to Illinois,
only to return to Goldendale in 1963. From 1963 until his retirement he worked
as assistant caretaker for the Oddfellows Cemetery in Goldendale. Failing
health caused him to retire. Louis Boxdorfer and his wife Clara Boxdorfer
were married nearly 72 years. The couple had no family of their own.
Surviving are: his wife, Clara; two elderly sisters living
in Illinois and one in California; nieces and nephews; and friends.
