PIONEER WOMAN PASSES AWAY
By the death of Mrs. H. Hylton on Sunday at the home
of her daughter, Mrs. P.A. Wyers, this section has lost one of its best known
and most loved pioneer women. Mrs. Hylton had lived in the Glenwood country
most of her life where she had taken a most prominent part in the development
of that section of Western Klickitat county.
Louise Dickerson Hylton was born March 17th, 1852, in
Floyd county, Virginia, and died in White Salmon on October 10th, 1926, at
the age of 74 years, 6 months and 23 days. She was married to Hiram Hylton
on March 4th, 1870, and to this union were born thirteen children, ten of
whom are living. She united with the Church of the Brethern at the age of
19, and lived a devoted Christian life up to her death. Mrs. Hylton was loved
by all who knew her.
She leaves to mourn her loss, her aged husband, four
sons and six daughters, thirty nine grandchildren and sixteen great
grandchildren, four brothers, and two sisters, besides a host of friends.
