LULA HEWITT SERVICE HELD MONDAY
Lula Irene Hewitt was born in Great Bend, Kansas to Thomas
and Lillian Kroenung on December 10th, 1885.
In 1902 she was graduated from Portland High School and
moved to Lyle shortly afterward.
She taught school at Glenwood and Hartland, Washington
for a period of three years before her marriage. On December 10th, 1905 she
was married to Forest L. Hewett in Lyle, Washington. They lived half-way
between Appleton and Snowden in the Panakanic area. Her husband preceded
her in death in 1955. For several years they had lived in Lyle until 1963
when Mrs. Hewett moved to Stevenson, Washington.
Three children, Clifford, Viola, and Everett preceded
her in death. Surviving is a daughter, Mrs. Ottis (Alta) Shields of Stevenson,
and a son, Kenneth L. Hewitt of Bremerton, Washington. There are also four
grandchildren.
Funeral services for Mrs. Hewett were held Monday, June
23rd, at 11 a.m. at the Gardner's Funeral Home in White Salmon with Rev.
Donald Kaelin of the Methodist Church of White Salmon officiating. Interment
was in Lyle, Washington.
