ESHELMAN
Lemoin J. Eshelman, 66, died at the Klickitat Valley
Hospital on April 9 of a severe of viral infection. He was born to Cloud
and Emma Niemela Eshelman, a pioneer family at Centerville, on February 22,
1916.
He attended the Centerville schools, graduating from
high school there in 1934. After attending college in Portland, Ore., he
returned and married Violet Woods on May 8, 1937. They had a son, Merwyn
on March 17, 1939 and a daughter, Barbara, on June 10, 1942. Eshelman farmed
and did carpentry work for many years, then moved to Vancouver, Wash. in
1962 where he was a building materials salesman for Vancouver Building Products
and continued college in the evening. In 1966 he was asked to join this sales
force of New York Life Insurance Company. He then transferred back to the
Goldendale area working out of the Yakima district office since then.
Eshelman was a member of the Centerville Church of Christ,
Centerville Grange, Goldendale Chamber of Commerce and Yakima Life Underwriters
and a 7th degree member of the National Grange. He had served as a Sunday
school teacher and superintendent, 4-H. leader, assistant scout master, master
of Centerville Grange, and president of Christian Business Men's Fellowship.
He has also achieved many awards from New York Life Insurance Company.
He is survived by his wife, Violet; one son, Merwyn;
one daughter, Barbara Elwess of Tenino, Wash.; grandchildren, Jeffrey Eshelman
of the US Marine Corps, Lisa, Kerry and Mark Eshelman of Vancouver; brothers,
Harold of Centerville, Alvin of Portland, Wayne of Goldendale and many nieces
nephews and cousins.
Funeral services were scheduled for Wednesday, April
14 at Christ the King Lutheran Church with Mr. Bob Carder of the Centerville
Church of Christ and retired Mr. Eldon Wiidanen of Dufur, Ore., officiating;
prelude music was by Mrs. William Garner on the cello; and soloist, Mrs.
Douglas Troh of Glenwood, accompanied by a Mrs. Loleta Zumwalt.
Honorary pallbearers were to be fellow New York Life
men of the Yakima office; Al Cote, Mike Frazer, Harold Downing, Dan Fortier,
Gene Adams and Roger Hanna. Active pall bearers were to be William Garner,
Quinton Jaekel, Paul Holm, Leonard Folland, James Lefever, and Ernest House.
Interment was at the Centerville Cemetery with burial
services conducted by Centerville Grange.
