KLICKITAT RESIDENT, 42 YEARS, PASSES
Mrs. Lucinda Jane Hinshaw was born in Marion county,
Oregon, Jan. 29, 1861 and passed away at her home in White Salmon on December
4, 1935 at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 5 days.
On October 31, 1883 she was united in marriage to Tunis
T. Hinshaw at the home of her parents, Rev. Mr. and Mrs. John Wesley Short.
She located with her husband in Klickitat county, residing in and near Goldendale
until 1911 at which time she moved, with her family to White Salmon, where
she had since made her home. Her husband preceded her in death on October
6, 1932.
To this union were born ten children, all of whom survive,
excepting the first born (twins) who died in infancy.
She leaves the following son and daughters: Earnest T.
Hinshaw, San Francisco, Calif.; Mrs. R.D. Grey, Salem, Ore.; Mrs. B.H. De
Yoe, Seattle; Mrs. Roy H. Cain, White Salmon; Mrs. E.R. Hodson and Mrs. W.C.
Schramm, Portland, Ore.; Mrs. D.T. Coughlin, St. Helens, Ore.; and Mrs. Frank
Withey, Spokane. Keith McCoy and 10 other grandchildren survive; also one
sister, Mrs. Susan Smith of Drain, Ore.
For many years she has been an invalid, but through it
all was a gentle, patient sufferer who held fast to her faith in God embraced
early in life. She has since gone to her rest and the deep grief of her family
bespeaks better than words, of the love, sacrifice, and devotion to those
near and dear to her.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Stout, from the
M.E. church, at White Salmon, Friday, Dec. 6th, at 2 p.m., followed by interment
in the I.O.O.F. cemetery.
