MRS. U. HYLTON, OF LYLE, PASSES AWAY
Lillian May Smith was born at Kent, Washington, May 18th,
1873 and passed away at her home in Lyle, April 11th, 1947, after a long
illness. She would have been 74 years old had she lived until the 18th of
next month.
She moved with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Levi Smith to
Klickitat county in 1881, spending most of her girlhood days in the Lyle
district. She was married at her home in Lyle, June 12th, 1898, to Mr. Ulyssis
Hylton. They lived on their homestead near Appleton until November 8th, 1922,
when they moved to Lyle where they have made their home ever since.
To this union was born three children; Leroy Hylton,
Appleton; Hazel Grey, Bingen and Helen Miller, San Mateo, California, all
of whom with her husband, four grandchildren, Richard Grey, Donald Hylton
and Harold and Calvin Wilson; one sister, Mrs. Nora McCann, Rainier, Oregon
and one brother, Mr. Elmer Smith, of Dee, Oregon survive.
Mrs. Hylton joined the Methodist church while quite young
and has been a loyal, conscientious worker in the church ever since. She
was a great lover of flowers and spent much of her time working in her beautiful
yard. She was a kind loving wife and mother and a good neighbor, ever ready
and willing to help in time of sickness and trouble. She will be greatly
missed by all who knew her.
To meet in Heaven! How sweet the thought,
When life's short years are past,
No more sorrow, no more tears,
To meet in Heaven at last.
To meet in Heaven, O Blessed thought,
All cares and suffering o'er,
Meet in the mansions of the Blest,
On that bright shining shore,
A fond farewell we know,
To meet in Heaven, tis hard to say,
But all is peace and joy and rest,
And God willed it to be so.
