LEILA ROBERTS
Leila M. "Lee" Roberts died Jan. 17, 1996 at her home
in Bingen, at the age of 88.
Mrs. Roberts was born April 11, 1907 in Mecosta County,
Mich., to Ida (Van Aistine) and Jacob W. Alber. She was raised in Michigan
and married Louis McKenzie as a young woman and moved to the Snowden area.
Mr. McKenzie was killed in the woods in 1957.
She married A.H. "Bud" Roberts Oct. 11, 1960 and they
moved to Bingen, where they have resided since. She worked as a nurse's aide
at Skyline Hospital, Hood River Memorial Hospital and Hanby's Nursing Home
(now Hood River Care Center) for many years. She attended the Catholic Church
and loved to sew.
Mrs. Roberts is survived by her husband Bud Roberts,
Bingen; several grandchildren and great grand-children. She was preceded
in death by her first husband, Louis, and son Glenn Louis McKenzie in
1984.
There will be no formal services for Mrs. Roberts. Interment
will be in White Salmon Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Hospice of the
Gorge, in care of Gardner Funeral Home, White Salmon.
