LAURA MARIE SPLAWN
Laura Marie Splawn, a longtime White Salmon resident,
died Nov. 8, 1994 in White Salmon, at the age of 89.
Mrs. Splawn was born Nov. 29, 1904, in Seattle to Margaret
(Richardson) and Ernest Jensen. The family moved to Trout Lake when she was
11. She came from Portland to Bingen Landing on the sternwheeler and then
rode horse-back to Trout Lake. She helped cook for her mother's boarding
house at a young age. She also cooked for Columbia High School and Skyline
Hospital. She worked as a meat wrapper for Red & White and Town &
Country. She retired from Underwood Fruit in 1966. She was a member of Rebekah
Lodge. She loved to garden and crochet. He biggest joy in life was her
family.
She is survived by her husband, John, White Salmon; children
Lorraine Hill, Trout Lake, Jim Pierson and Joyce Stembridge, both of White
Salmon, and Bob Pierson, Boring, Ore.; step-daughter Dorothy Williams; 12
grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers, one sister and one
grandchild.
Services for Mrs. Splawn were held Friday, Nov. 11, 1994,
at Gardner Funeral Home, with Pastor Joel Hibbs officiating. Interment was
in the White Salmon Cemetery.
