Funeral services for Lester Virgil Mulkey Sr., 87, of
Ryderwood on Jan. 26, 1996, at 10 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White
Salmon.

LESTER MULKEY SR
Lester Virgil Mulkey Sr., a former Bingen resident, died
in Ryderwood on Jan. 19, 1996, at the age of 87.
Mr. Mulkey was born May 22, 1908 in Elberton, to Effie
(Hawkins) and Horace Grant Mulkey. He moved from Elberton to Wyoming where
he grew up. He then moved to Newport Ore., and started working for Safeway
as troubleshooter.
He then owned his own stores in Portland, Vernonia and
Corvallis, Ore.
He moved to Bingen and owned a store there from 1939
until he retired. He then went to work for SDS Lumber Co. as a grader and
worked there several years. He moved to Idaho in 1973 and then to Ryderwood
is 1990.
He was a member of the Elks Lodge. He loved animals and
raised many different varieties.
Mr. Mulkey is survived by his wife, Nedra Mulkey, Ryderwood;
son Virgil Mulkey, Ryderwood; stepson Jerry Crowe, Prineville, Ore: daughter
Marilyn Van Hynling, Newport Ore.: stepdaughter Sheryl Walker. The Dalles,
Ore.; sister Agnes Morrison, Cheyenne, Wyo.: six grandchildren and several
great-grandchildren.
Services from Mr. Mulkey were held Friday. Jan. 26, 1996,
at 10 a.m. at Gardner Funeral Home in White Salmon, with Rev. Bob Brackett
officiating. Interment was at White Salmon Cemetery.
Gardner Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
